Gand, Charles Adolphe - Paris ca. 1850

This cello is made upon a typically robust model of about 76cm in body length that was preferred by virtually every Parisian maker of the mid 19th century. Tightly flamed maple was used for the back, ribs and head; the table is made from a wide grained spruce that the Gand family favored.
The outline closely adheres to the Stradivari inspired contours used by his father. The varnish is a clear and intense red brown color.
Certificate:  Etienne Vatelot
