Zachary Carrettín, has performed as violinist and violist in thirty countries on four continents. A committed educator, he served as Director of Orchestral Studies at Sam Houston State University, Violin/Viola Instructor at University of St. Thomas, and Interim Director of Early Music Ensembles at University of Colorado-Boulder. Zachary completed Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Rice University Shepherd School of Music, where he studied with Kenneth Goldsmith and Sergiu Luca. He has served as violinist in the Bergen Philharmonic (Norway), and as soloist and guest concertmaster with several renowned chamber orchestras, including American Bach Soloists (San Francisco), Musica Angelica (Los Angeles) and Ars Lyrica (Houston). His recording of Schubert Sonatinas with pianist Mina Gajić, recorded on early Romantic Era period instruments, is set to be released on the Sono Luminus label in March, 2020. As a violinist and violist he has appeared at festivals internationally, including performances with the Tokyo String Quartet, the Assad Brothers, on the Face of America series at Wolf Trap, and international touring with Yanni, Project Bandaloop, and Chanticleer. Zachary has conducted youth symphonies and university orchestras extensively, and has conducted professional orchestras in Europe, South America, and the United States. His private students in violin and viola have continued their studies at institutions including Rice University, the Juilliard School, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Harvard University, The Royal Conservatory of Music in Denmark, and hold positions in orchestras internationally. Zachary will remain as Music Director of the Boulder Bach Festival, a position he has retained since 2013.
